Josh Hudson
British 2 Man Bobsleigh Pilot
My story:
The feeling of piloting a sled down a mile and a half of ice, at up to 98mph and 8 Gs of pressure is a rush like no other and one that I am honoured to have experienced. Let me tell you a bit about how I got here.

My story starts in a small village in Devon as a young boy who wanted to try every sport possible. From rugby to rowing, from mountain biking to motocross. My passion for speed and ambition to succeed grew with me. I am proud to have represented Devon in rugby and taken part in motocross SW championships in 2018. In 2021, whilst playing rugby for Ivybridge RFC I was spotted by scouts for the GB Bobsleigh Team and asked to attend a talent ID session in their training grounds near Bath.
Fast forward 3 months and I am at the top of a Bobsleigh track in a GB suit wondering what have I got myself into! I don't think I will ever replicate the feeling of raw passion for the race that I experienced at that moment.

After 2 seasons as a brakeman for other pilots, I had my first taste of driving a sled in January 2023, before being selected as a pilot for the 2023/24 season. In my first season as a pilot, I had my best result in the European Cup race in Latvia, finishing 10th. Shortly after in St Moritz, Switzerland I placed 12th in the Junior World Championships (U26).

Throughout this amazing journey I have been helped by an incredible group of people and would simply not be here without each and every one of them.

My family have been there from day one.

My strength and conditioning coach Alexander Kopacz, 2 man olympic champion 2018, has been truly integral in my development as an athlete. I feel very fortunate to have him as a coach and mentor.

The GB Team- Mark Silva as performance director and
Sean Olsson OLY as our head coach on ice.

My Sponsors- Ethical Power, Hudsons, Prompt Business Strategies, Hafborg and Morecore who came on board in 2023 and have all continued their support into my second season as a pilot.

Over 100 people from Devon who supported my first Go Fund Me campaign in 2023 raising over £9,000 for the 23/24 season.
